Have you ever dreamed of indulging yourself with cakes, cupcakes and other desserts but you just can’t because of the pennies it would cost you? Have you ever imagined yourself ingesting as much as many pastries as you can? Have you ever wondered what it would be like making your own definition of happiness but you just can’t because you don’t have the tools that you need in order to make them? Well, worry no more! Being an avid viewer of Cupcake Jemma, Laura Vitale, Gemma Stafford and the others encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new that I will truly enjoy and love doing. Being a baker wanna be is difficult at first because you don’t know how to start, but, thanks to my sissums (Ate Alyosa & Alyssa), we decided to kick start purchasing some of the baking essentials that would be such a huge help on starting not just mine, but, our new love.
Purchasing essentials don’t have to be pricey (especially if you’re just a student like me); you just have to make sure that you bought the right one (even if they’re bought at a low price, make sure it’s still qualified). In this post, I’m going to show you the baking essentials that we bought and you too could purchase which will only cost you not more than Php500! (Notwithstanding the tools that your parents may already own and you could utilize while thinking about its service that it gave them! Oh, time!)
(Excluding the conventional oven (which we don’t have), we purchased baking tools that we use for STEAMING! Yes, you heard it right! Steaming is the same as baking. The only difference is that with baking, you use an electricity- powered machine and with the heat circulating inside, it would make your cakes come into life and steaming, on the other hand, let’s you make your cake through the power of boiling!)
Let’s get started!
MIXING BOWLS
Mixing bowls are very essential because these will serve as the avenue for mixing all the ingredients that you’ll need for that cupcake! Coming in five different sizes, we’ve bought this kawaii mixing bowl set for only P88 at DAISO JAPAN, Robinsons Starmills, Pampanga. (Good thing we’re able to avail these, especially being the last stock!)

MEASURING CUPS
Baking is all about the right measurement. With that, measuring cups should definitely be on your list if you’re planning to kick start your essentials! This 10 piece- set measuring cups ranges from a cup to the very least quarter of teaspoon and it only cost us P66 at JAPAN HOME CENTRE, Robinsons Starmills, Pampanga.

WHISK
In order to mix that batter well, you’ll definitely need an egg beater, or commonly known as a whisk. This whisk’s handle’s thicker than a regular one, but only cost P60 at NOVO DEPARTMENT STORE, City of San Fernando, Pampanga branch.

SPATULA
Together with a whisk, a spatula could make your batter well mixed for you could mix the ingredients evenly without leaving any traces of the spare ingredients. This silicone spatula was purchased for only P88 at DAISO JAPAN, Robinsons Starmills, Pampanga.

CAKE TRAY
For those with conventional oven, a cake tray is definitely a must-have! With this tray, one could make a starter cake or brownie. This aluminum tray was purchased at the market for P60.

PIPING BAG AND NOZZLE
Preppin’ for decorating those icing on top of your cakes? Then, let the piping bag and nozzle do the job for you! This 12- piece medium-sized piping bag set cost P88 at DAISO JAPAN, Robinsons Starmills, Pampanga, and the nozzle? Thanks to my cousin!

CUPCAKE/ CAKE LINERS
Liners are used not only for the finished product to be easily held but to make it presentable as well. It comes on different sizes depending on what you need and want. The liner set at the top comes in different colors and is bought for P6.50 for every 100 pieces and the liners at the bottom are bought for P12.50 for every 100 pieces at SM SUPERMARKET, SM CITY PAMPANGA. The bigger liners came from our Aunt in the US (Thanks, Tita!) and are ideal for bigger cakes.

CUPCAKE MOLDS
For your cupcakes come into shape, cupcake molds are being used together with the liners. We’ve improvised these puto molds which were solely inherited from our mum, (thanks, ma!) as cupcake molds! No cost for these!
Summing everything up, these tools roughly cost P469! See?! It won’t even cost you the way you imagined them it would. For everything that you wanted to have, it shouldn’t be the priciest but, make sure passes the requirement for quality. For a very affordable price, we got to have these baking essentials! The stores where we bought ours were really tried and tested and are great avenues for beginners like us! Remember, never be afraid to try something new and discover where your little money could take you!
