Waiting on His time
Psalm 37:14 KJV
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Four years ago we experienced our own version of “The Great Depression”. It was the time when my dad was not given his salary because the company he was working for had some problems while my mom’s family’s commercial building was under construction so the old rental places where my mom usually got her money from was demolished: no rental spaces, no money. We weren’t and still aren’t living in an extravagant fashion, we are just an average family where we do what we can with what we have. We were raised to live simply but even with that, we still struggled at that time.
It came to a point where we started asking questions and my parents started fighting because of the stress and because of the feeling of not fulfilling their responsibilities as parents. It was a trying time in each and every one of my family’s life, but that time gave us something worth all the stress, pain, and struggle. We learned to be patient.
We learned that instead of thinking about solutions, focusing on the stress and problems that the situation has given us, as a family, we turned to the other side and plummeted ourselves to His word. We prayed, and worshipped the Father together. As a family, we learned to encourage each member. In that time we learned to be patient where we grew in love, faith and where our relationship as a family got stronger and our relationship with the Lord got deeper.
It’s hard to wait on something you don’t know. It’s hard to wait on something you’re scared about. It’s hard to wait, in general, I know. But I also know that waiting on the Lord will always be worth it. His timing is perfect, He is never late and never early. Psalm 37:14 is a verse reminding us about how we should “wait on the Lord” because when God is delaying something, He is preparing you for something. We should “be of good courage” and never lose hope of our Father who has never broken His promise to us. Moreover when we wait, “he shall strengthen thine heart”. This is one of the advices that King David wrote for us, an advice that will help us in a lot of ways.
So stop whining about not getting what you want right now. Stop getting irritated if something you have waited for a while now gets delayed. Stop being so frustrated about these kind of things because you will never go anywhere with it. Think that when something is delayed, it only means that God is still preparing you for something that you NEED.
