Nene Pimentel Jr. opens the mind of the youth about “FEDERALISM”

Student Leaders from Pampanga and Tarlac graces the symposium about Federalism with the theme “Federalism and the Political Participation of the Youth” held at the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) in September 3, 2016.

The University Student Council of DHVTSU invited 4 universities and colleges namely, University of the Assumption, Mary the Queen Colleges, St. Nicholas Colleges, and Interworld Colleges Foundation in Tarlac. They also invited the local media and the student leaders from the respective colleges in their university.

The said seminar is organized by Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan Pampanga (PDP LABAN Pampanga) in partnership with Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University. According to Mr. Robin Abillanoza, the University Student Council President of DHVTSU, the objective of this forum is to “Empower the youth regarding the federalism, so that they will become aware of what Pres. Digong wanted for our Government System. Also, to fully understand what federalism is”. He also said that the said symposium is just to allow the youth to raise their question and get an answer to clarify things and understand the current situation of our government and why we need to change it into Federal.

The speaker in the said forum is the Former Senate President and the Founder of PDP Laban Hon. Aquilino “Nene” Q. Pimentel Jr. According to the Senator, “If the Philippines is a Federal Country, Metro Manila will be converted to a Federal Administrative Region”, he also added that if our country is in federal form, Luzon will consist of 4 states which are the federal states of Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Minparom. Visayas will also consist of 4, the federal states of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Western Visayas and Mindanao will consist of 3 federal states, the federal states of Northern Mindanao, Southern Mindanao and Bangsamoro.

“Development is all about welfare for people while modernization is by means of high rise buildings and concrete roads. Pimentel also remind the youth that “our freedom is not depended on the government, it is in ourselves”, said Pimentel as he also differentiated development and modernization.

The conference lasted for 3 hours. The program consists of the introduction of the topic, talks, and lastly the open forum where the participants and local media have time to raise their questions about the said matter.
