Summer Internship 2016 Experience
Summer, whenever I hear it I always get excited, well I'm sure all of us here feels the same way about it. It is the time where we have to forget about the deadlines, school works and other duties. Outings, getaways, family gatherings and vacations or should I say movie marathon, Kdrama series, bed all day and pigging out as much as you want is probably the reason why all of us loves the idea of summer. And just like any other this is how we usually spend it. But ours is different.
My third year in college was probably the most toxic one. Though it caused a lot of stress due to our erratic schedule overloaded with activities like series of major productions, I can say that the learning process is fun along the way because we've done things that we've never done before. All that we went through during our third year days helps us a lot in many ways and they served as a training for us in preparation for our summer internship.
Talking about internship, this is what makes our summer experience different from our past summers because it is the first time that we don't have a vacation. When the academic year was about to end all of us got busy with our requirements for OJT while others are also busy preparing for the career exposure abroad. Another school year has ended but I can't say that "its a wrap" for all of us co'z the next thing that we're about to face is our OJT. Some went to US, some stayed in the province and we're one of those who decided to have our OJT in Manila.
Two months have passed since our life in the city ended but I'm still missing the whole experience. My days in ABS-CBN are the ones that I consider unforgettable so far that's why I can't help but still feel nostalgic about it. Not having a vacation and not being able to see the beach is not bad at all because my internship took me to places I've never been before. New environment, new people, new friends in the real world of media. All of us were assigned in the same department the Integrated News and Current Affairs but also assigned to different programs, how cool was that? They say that working in media can be tough and can be toxic but from what I have observed and experienced It doesn't seem like work for me as an intern when you're having fun and you love what you do. Transcribing video clips, writing a press release, pitching a story, doing ocular visits, on location shooting, re-enactments, getting some screenshots from the editing room are what I usually did during those times, productive summer indeed. I'm not saying that the whole experience was easy but being able to work with people who have great minds such as the segment producer, executive producer and the researchers is something that I would not exchange for anything.
Other than that, the fun and exciting part is we actually get to see different artists and celebrities everyday. Sneaking through the hallway of the dressing rooms and studios just to take pictures and even watch tapings of various shows in the network are what i miss the most. And of course the moments that I shared with my friends during my whole stay in Manila. Jem, Bon and Meds and of course our new found friend Ate Chee. Late night talks, midnight snacks, chit-chatting till 4 in the morning became our habit for almost 2 months. Condo living is not that easy but living with friends like them and spending time with them everyday made it a lot easier. We didn't actually expect that we're going to have OJT in the same network but luckily it happened and it was a blast. Truly that my summer 2016 has taught me a lot not only in the field of media but also lessons in real life. Unforgettable that's how I should describe it..
