Unveiling Nueva Ecija
Nueva Ecija is known to be the “Palay Capital of the Philippines”. It is a landlocked province in the country located of the in the Central Luzon region. The sprawling and varied geological features of the land now known as Nueva Ecija, includes plains, mountains and rivers, all the requisites for the birthing and sustenance of life itself. But who would have thought that Nueva Ecija is more than just a vast greenery rice fields but the home to a natural wonders such Minalungao National Park. It is located in the center of the scenic Peñaranda River, far ahead from the countryside of the province. Nueva Ecija adamantly hides a great masterpiece sculptured by nature in its perimeter.
The Minalungao National Park is located at Barangay Minalungao, Municipality of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija. The marvelous 16-meter high limestone bordered the narrow river which boasts the pristine calm emerald water along the Sierra Madre mountain range.
You have a choice to see the entire national park by foot or by boat. A local guide is available around the area, even kids can be your guide and ours was two local kids aged 11 and 16 years old.
Gliding along the side of the towering limestone formation through a shrilling trail is really fun. Renting a bamboo raft is a must for a much easy and relax trail. Both trails will lead you to a shallow swimming area with refreshing and cool waters of the river.
Cave exploration is the highlight, where shimmering stalactites and stalagmites can be seen in the dark hollows.
Also, the Minalungao Park of Nueva Ecija is a perfect place for photo shoots and unwinding. It is a peaceful place where you can relieve your stress and escape from the buzzing noise of the city. Other activities include relaxing on the floating cottage, fishing and cliff diving with the supervision of the trusted local guides.
