It’s that time of the year again! Have you readied your starter pack for this Rainy Season?

Here are some of the essential tips to keep you safe this rainy season:

  • First on the list, if your place is located in a lower area and you feel like a heavy rainfall is about to approach, start evacuating your valuables in the elevated part of your house. This way you can save your things as much as you can save your self from getting all wet.

  • Second, make your way to the television set or listen over the radio about the weather forecast to keep you updated and be guided on what to do in case danger is on the offing.

  • Third, call a family meeting to make contingency measures. Set a task for each individual in your family. It is a way more effective to make you and your family alert and ready for whatever may come.

  • Fourth, store some canned goods or ready-to-eat goods, bottled waters, medicines, batteries, flashlights, whistles and raincoats in a larger container for emergency purposes.

  • Fifth, if the level of the water in your area is starting to rise above the normal/critical level, go to the nearest place where you can evacuate and bring your portable essential valuables with you.

  • Sixth, have your phones and power banks fully charged.

  • Seventh, be ready with a battery-operated transistor radio in case evacuation can’t be avoided.

  • Eighth, and most importantly, have a clear and sunny disposition even if dark clouds abound.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
